The Latin phrase “Et in Arcadia Ego” is a memento mori translating roughly to “Even in Arcadia (a pastoral utopia), there I am (Death).” Coined by Virgil, the phrase was famously used as a title for 17th century French artist Nicolas Poussin’s painting depicting shepherds reading the inscription of a tomb. The beginning of the phrase, translated into English, is the title of Sleep Token’s upcoming album.
